Vancouver Island University’s volleyball teams began the new semester with strong performances.
Both the women’s and men’s Mariners teams won all their matches against the Camosun Chargers on Friday and Saturday, marking a solid start to the new year in the Pacific Western Athletic Association.
The women’s team fought hard in their first match of 2025, taking five sets to win 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-11. The next day, they secured a four-set victory, winning 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-16.
The men’s team also had a similar experience, grinding out a five-set win in their opening match, 25-22, 24-26, 20-25, 25-22, 15-12. The Mariners won the following day’s rematch in four sets, 25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 25-22.
Next, both teams will travel to Abbotsford to face the Columbia Bible College Bearcats this Friday and Saturday.
