Liverpool Falls Short Again vs Forest in EPL

Liverpool’s frustration with Nottingham Forest continued as they managed only a 1-1 draw at the City Ground on Tuesday, adding to their disappointing record against the Premier League newcomers this season. The leaders, who have lost just once in their last 20 matches, faced a setback when Chris Wood scored early for Forest in the eighth minute. Despite the pressure from Liverpool, it seemed Forest was on track to secure an improbable home-and-away double against the title contenders, having previously defeated them 1-0 at Anfield in September.

However, Liverpool found a lifeline when Diogo Jota, who came on as a substitute, equalized with a header from a corner in the 66th minute, just 22 seconds after entering the match. This draw allowed Liverpool to maintain a six-point lead over Forest, who now sits in second place as they pursue an unexpected Champions League qualification. Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels expressed optimism about their position, noting that with 41 points already secured, they could aim higher than mere survival in the league.

In other Premier League action, Manchester City displayed their own struggles, squandering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Brentford. After Phil Foden scored twice for City, they conceded goals in the 82nd minute and stoppage time, leaving them in sixth place. City manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged the need for better game management. Meanwhile, Chelsea extended their winless streak to five matches, salvaging a late 2-2 draw against Bournemouth thanks to a free kick from Reece James in stoppage time. In contrast, West Ham celebrated their new manager Graham Potter’s first victory, defeating Fulham 3-2, while Leyton Orient advanced to the FA Cup fourth round after a dramatic penalty shootout win against Derby County.
