In a commanding performance, Henri Veesaar scored 19 points, leading the Arizona Wildcats to an 81-70 victory over No. 25 Baylor on Tuesday night. This win marks Arizona’s seventh consecutive triumph, improving their record to 11-5 overall and a perfect 5-0 in Big 12 play.
The Wildcats, coming off an 88-80 win against UCF, displayed a level of intensity that the Bears (11-5, 3-2) struggled to match. Arizona surged ahead early, establishing a 27-point lead midway through the second half, thanks to a relentless defensive effort. Despite a strong second half from Baylor, which included hitting eight consecutive shots to narrow the gap to 71-62 with just over two minutes remaining, the Bears ultimately ran out of steam.
In addition to Veesaar’s standout performance, Arizona’s Jaden Bradley contributed 13 points, six assists, and five rebounds, while the team shot an impressive 54% from the field, including 50% from beyond the arc. For Baylor, Robert Wright III scored 16 points and VJ Edgecome added 14, but their first-half struggles, where they managed just 19 points—the fewest allowed by Arizona against a ranked opponent since 2009—proved too much to overcome. Looking ahead, Baylor will host TCU on Sunday, while Arizona prepares for a matchup against Texas Tech on Saturday.
