Hellas Verona has officially become the eighth Serie A club to fall under American ownership, following the complete acquisition by Texas-based Presidio Investors on Wednesday. This transition marks the end of Maurizio Setti’s 13-year leadership of the club.
Christian Puscasiu, managing partner at Presidio Investors, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “We’ve worked hard these past months to achieve this milestone, and are excited to take our first steps in this historic city, leading a club that is an integral part of Verona and its people.” He also acknowledged Setti’s contributions, thanking him for his stewardship and highlighting the importance of his ongoing role in the club’s future as a senior adviser for football operations.
In conjunction with the ownership change, Hellas Verona has appointed Italo Zanzi, the former CEO of Roma, as its executive chairman. Zanzi remarked on the significance of joining the club, emphasizing a commitment to honoring its rich traditions while enhancing its operational effectiveness. Currently, Verona sits just one point above the relegation zone, gearing up for a crucial home match against Lazio this Sunday. Other Serie A teams under American ownership include Inter, AC Milan, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Parma, Roma, and Venezia, while Bologna is owned by Canadian Joey Saputo.
