Inter Milan was unable to capitalize on the opportunity to gain ground on its title rivals, settling for a 2-2 draw against Bologna in Serie A on Wednesday. Despite the disappointing result, Inter remains just three points behind league leaders Napoli and has a game in hand, keeping their title hopes alive.
The draw marked the end of a six-match winning streak for the Nerazzurri, who now find themselves only one point ahead of third-placed Atalanta, which has struggled recently with three consecutive draws. This result highlights the competitive nature of the Serie A standings as teams vie for crucial points in the title race.
Bologna took an early lead in the 15th minute when Nikola Moro’s volley from outside the box deflected off Santiago Castro, leaving Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer with no chance. However, Inter responded quickly, with Denzel Dumfries equalizing just four minutes later. Lautaro Martínez then gave Inter the advantage right before halftime, scoring his first goal at San Siro in over two months. The match took another turn in the second half when Emil Holm equalized for Bologna in the 64th minute, aided by a significant deflection, ensuring the teams shared the spoils.
