The NFL has announced that Vikings running back Aaron Jones, 49ers tight end George Kittle, and Chargers defensive end Morgan Fox are the finalists for the 14th annual Salute to Service award, presented by USAA. This prestigious award highlights the league’s ongoing commitment to honoring the military and veteran communities throughout the year.
Each of the NFL’s 32 teams nominated a representative who exemplified exceptional support for military personnel. The nominees, revealed in November, included both active and retired players, as well as coaches and team executives. The recipient of the Salute to Service award will be unveiled at the NFL Honors ceremony on February 6.
Major General (Ret.) John Richardson, USAA’s senior vice president and head of military affairs, praised the finalists for their dedication. “Our three finalists for the 2024 Salute to Service award are all deserving of recognition for their long-standing and unwavering commitment to honoring the military community,” he stated. In recognition of their contributions, USAA will donate $25,000 in the award winner’s name to the official aid societies of each military branch, with the NFL Foundation matching this contribution, directed to the recipient’s chosen military charity. The finalists were selected through a combination of fan voting, an internal NFL committee, and USAA’s evaluation.
