The Tennessee Titans are advancing in their search for a new general manager, holding second-round interviews on Wednesday with Ian Cunningham, assistant general manager of the Chicago Bears, and Mike Borgonzi, assistant general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs. This follows the dismissal of Ran Carthon, who was let go last week after overseeing a disappointing 9-25 record during his two seasons with the franchise.
Chad Brinker, the Titans’ president of football operations, is leading the search process, which began with three days of virtual interviews involving ten candidates. After conducting virtual interviews with both Cunningham and Borgonzi on Sunday, the Titans initiated in-person interviews on Tuesday, meeting with Ed Dodds, assistant general manager of the Indianapolis Colts, and Terrance Gray, director of player personnel for the Buffalo Bills. The Titans are expected to interview two additional candidates on Thursday as they seek to fill the position ahead of the upcoming NFL draft, where they currently hold the No. 1 overall pick.
Borgonzi, who has been with the Chiefs since 2009, has played a key role in the team’s scouting and roster-building efforts since being promoted to assistant general manager in 2021. He previously served as Kansas City’s director of football operations and has experience as a college fullback at Brown University. Meanwhile, Cunningham, who was a candidate for the Titans’ GM position two years ago, has made a name for himself in Chicago after spending five successful years with the Philadelphia Eagles. He began his career with the Baltimore Ravens, where he won two Super Bowls and rose through the ranks to become an area scout before transitioning to player personnel roles.
