In a commanding performance, the University of Utah secured a 73-65 victory over Texas Christian University (TCU) on Wednesday night, never trailing throughout the game. Gabe Madsen led the Utes with 17 points, while Keanu Dawes contributed 16, helping Utah improve to 10-6 overall and 2-3 in Big 12 play.
In addition to Madsen and Dawes, Lawson Lovering added 11 points and Mike Sharavjamts chipped in 10 for the Utes. Jake Wahlin made a significant impact on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds to complement his eight points. For TCU, Vasean Allette was the standout performer, scoring 19 points. Teammates Noah Reynolds and Brendan Wenzel each contributed 12 points, while Micah Robinson added 10.
The game saw Utah take a 30-26 lead into halftime, with Madsen contributing 11 points in the first half, matching Allette’s output for TCU. The Utes extended their lead to as much as 14 points in the second half at 45-31. Although TCU fought back to narrow the gap several times, they could not close in further than six points, with Robinson’s late three-pointer coming too little, too late. This matchup marked the first conference clash between the two teams since 2011, as Utah looks to continue their momentum against rival BYU on Saturday, while TCU prepares to face No. 25 Baylor on Sunday.
