The Dorsey brothers are savoring their final season together on the William & Mary men’s basketball team. For Caleb and Gabe Dorsey, this season is not only about showcasing their skills but also about strengthening their bond as teammates.
The team has had a strong start in the Coastal Athletic Association, and much of that success is due to their tight-knit chemistry. For Caleb and Gabe, that chemistry runs deeper—it’s a family connection.
This season marks the last time the Maryland natives will share the court as teammates. Gabe, 16 months younger than Caleb, is cherishing every moment of this final year.
“It’s been great for me,” Gabe said. “Just really trying to enjoy this last ride with one another. We realize this is our last year of eligibility, so we’re trying to make it special.”
The brothers’ reunion is also special for their parents, Stephen and Myra, who have long hoped to see their sons play together again.
“He’s my best friend,” Caleb said. “He’s one of my favorite teammates. We won a state championship together in high school, so getting the chance to go for something bigger, like a conference tournament or the NCAA tournament, means a lot.”
First-year head coach Brian Earl, a strong supporter of the brothers’ bond, is pleased with their on-court chemistry.
“It reminds me of my relationship with my brother,” Earl said. “There’s a lot of truth-telling that doesn’t usually happen between most people. They’re holding each other accountable, and it’s fun to watch.”
The brothers’ connection is clear on the court. Caleb, a 6’8” forward, has become a standout player after transferring from Penn State, where he spent three seasons.
For both brothers, this season is a chance to showcase their talents and strengthen their bond as teammates. Their journey at William & Mary has been a special one, and the memories they’re making together will last a lifetime.
As Caleb put it, “Once we get to the end, I’ll probably look back and reflect on all of it, but right now I want to win games.”
