The 2025 season of the National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s and Football NSW Leagues officially began today with a grand launch event at Valentine Sports Park. The event brought together 28 players from the two top senior women’s competitions in New South Wales, showcasing the talent and excitement ahead of the new season.
The launch was hosted by Master of Ceremonies Kat Haddad, who introduced the players to the media. Football NSW Chairman Gilbert Lorquet highlighted the importance of the women’s leagues in developing future stars. “Our women’s leagues play a crucial role in advancing players, coaches, and referees to the A-League and beyond,” he said. “Last season, over 80 players from the NPL Women’s NSW were signed by A-League clubs. This shows the high quality of our competitions and the success of our clubs.”
Several standout players from the NPL Women’s NSW were present at the event, including Ashlie Crofts (APIA Leichhardt FC), Elizabeth Grey (Bulls FC Academy), Siobhan Edwards (Illawarra Stingrays), Lola Sossai (Macarthur Rams), Emily Kos (Mt Druitt Town Rangers), and Allira Toby (UNSW FC). These players represent the depth of talent in the league and are set to shine in the 2025 season.
Catherine Cannuli, a former NSW Sapphire and Matildas star, also attended the launch. She praised the role of Football NSW’s elite competitions in growing women’s football. “These leagues are vital for the continued development of the women’s game,” she said.
Fans will have plenty of opportunities to watch the action in 2025. Every NPL Women’s NSW match will be live-streamed on YouTube, free of charge and available on demand. Additionally, the Football NSW League One Women’s weekly Match of the Round will be broadcast, along with the Sapphire Cup Semi-Finals and Final. All matches will feature expert commentary, bringing the excitement of the game to viewers.
The 2025 season promises to be an exciting chapter for women’s football in NSW, with top-tier talent, increased visibility, and a strong focus on development.
