The Patriot League announced its weekly tennis awards on Tuesday, with Colgate’s Benito Vlassis and Navy’s Emily Tannenbaum taking top honors.
Men’s Player of the Week: Benito Vlassis, Colgate
Colgate senior Benito Vlassis earned Men’s Player of the Week after a strong showing against Navy. He secured Colgate’s only point in the match, winning at No. 1 singles in a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, (14-12) comeback victory, saving three match points along the way. Vlassis also partnered with Josh Israel to win at No. 1 doubles, 7-5.
Women’s Player of the Week: Emily Tannenbaum, Navy
Navy senior Emily Tannenbaum claimed Women’s Player of the Week, going 3-0 in singles and doubles to lead the Mids to two wins. She teamed with Parvathi Shanker for a 6-3 doubles victory over Georgetown’s top pair before defeating Emily Novikov in singles, 6-2, 6-1, contributing to a 5-2 team win. Tannenbaum later dominated Morgan State’s Hannah Smith, winning 6-2, 6-1 in a 7-0 Navy sweep.

- Nathan Nguyen (Navy, Jr.) – Went 2-0 in a 6-1 win over Colgate, earning victories at No. 2 singles (7-5, 7-5) and No. 2 doubles (7-5).
- Adam Stavrakas (Bucknell, Jr.) – Reached the quarterfinals of the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship with Oscar Bain, securing four straight victories. He also went 2-0 against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, clinching the doubles point and winning 6-0, 6-0 in singles.
- Isabella Brilliant (Army West Point, Jr.) – Won three matches at No. 3 singles and doubles against Rutgers, Hofstra, and Colgate, including a 6-0, 6-1 singles victory over Hofstra.
- Maggie Forkner (Lehigh, So.) – Helped Lehigh to a 5-2 win over LIU, securing a 6-4 doubles victory and a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.
