The Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team will take on Ball State for the first time in program history on Thursday at noon. The match will be held at the Michael O. Buchanon Indoor Tennis Facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The Governors (3-7) enter the contest after a 5-2 loss to Furman on Tuesday. Despite the defeat, Austin Peay claimed the doubles point with strong performances on courts one and three. Asia Fontana and Denise Torrealba teamed up for a 6-1 win over Alexa Griffith and Grace Thomas, while Jo-Anne Thiel and Jana Cheng edged out Sara Isabel Snyder and Elenor Schulson, 7-5.
Ball State (4-4) comes into the match following a dominant 6-1 victory over Butler. The Cardinals secured the doubles point and dropped just one singles match in their win.
Thursday’s matchup marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
