Four individuals have been charged by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in connection with match-fixing activities in the Hong Kong football league.
Three of the suspects are affiliated with Fu Moon Athletic Association, a club currently competing in the Second Division, below the Premier League and First Division. Among them is Lo Hong-ming, a 30-year-old defender who also owns and coaches the team, along with 32-year-old midfielder So Chun-yin.
Wong Him-chun, a former Fu Moon player, is accused of acting as a betting agent, while Yao Xiaocong is alleged to be the bookmaker involved in the scheme. The suspects are set to appear in Eastern Court on Friday.
The ICAC has claimed that 11 league and cup matches during the 2021-22 season were manipulated. Lo is accused of accepting bribes amounting to HK$60,000, while the other three individuals allegedly offered HK$240,000 to players to secure their participation in the match-fixing activities.
The ICAC has stated that the investigation is ongoing and warned that more arrests could follow as the inquiry continues.
