Alvaro Negredo Hangs Up His Boots After Successful Career Across Europe

Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo has officially retired from football at the age of 39. On Thursday, he shared a heartfelt message on social media, posting a video of himself hanging up his boots with the simple caption: “Thanks, football.”

Negredo, who had been without a club since the end of last season, spent his final season with Real Valladolid, where he helped the team secure promotion to La Liga. Throughout his career, he played for several prominent clubs, including Sevilla, Manchester City, Valencia, and Besiktas.

The striker had a successful stint at Manchester City, where he won both the Premier League and League Cup in the 2013/14 season. He later moved on loan to Valencia, where he continued his career in Spain. Negredo also made significant contributions to the Spanish national team, being part of the squad that won Euro 2012. He appeared in two matches during the tournament.

Throughout his career, Negredo scored 290 goals in 755 club appearances and added 10 goals in 21 games for Spain. His journey also included time with Turkish club Besiktas and Middlesbrough in the Premier League.
