After having its three-match winning streak snapped, the Fordham women’s tennis team quickly got back on track with a 5-2 victory over Stony Brook on Sunday night at the Cary Leeds Center.
The Rams started strong by securing the doubles point. Lorraine Bergmann and Lily Chitambar dominated at the No. 2 spot, defeating Kristi Boro and Lorin Tilipman 6-0. Paola Ueno Dalmonico and Catalina Padilla Udaeta then clinched the point with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles over Sara Annamaria Medved and Cornelia Bruu-Syverson.
In singles play, Fordham claimed victory in four of the six matches. At No. 1 singles, Nevena Kolarevic took down Mia Palladino in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. Julianne Nguyen earned another win for the Rams at No. 2, taking the first set 6-2 before dropping the second by the same score. She was leading 5-2 in the third set when Tilipman was forced to retire.
Chitambar and Sofie Siem secured the final two wins for Fordham. Chitambar defeated Bruu-Syverson 7-5, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, while Siem rallied after losing the first set to Mila Charles at No. 6, winning 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-3.
