Arthur Fils is no ordinary tennis talent. At just 20 years old, the French player has already gained a reputation as one of the sport’s most exciting showmen. His dynamic style and powerful shots electrify crowds, making him a rising star in the tennis world.
With his rapid ascent comes great expectations. France has long awaited its first Grand Slam men’s singles champion of the Open Era. Could Fils be the one to break that barrier?
Ranked world No. 19 at the start of 2025, Fils remains unfazed by the pressure. Instead, he welcomes the challenge.
“There is no stress—there’s nothing better than this,” Fils told Olympics.com in French. “It’s a good problem to have, as they say. When you step onto the court at Bercy or Roland-Garros and hear the crowd chanting your name, those are great emotions. If you can even call it pressure, it’s a very good kind.”
Off the court, Fils is like any other 20-year-old. He enjoys football, a sport he played as a child alongside basketball, and stays connected with family and friends during his travels.
But when it comes to competition, Fils is a phenomenon in the making—one who could soon make history.
