McGill University’s annual McGill24 fundraiser returns on Wednesday, March 12, with a special incentive for supporters of the Redbirds football team. Thanks to a generous donation from football alumnus Issie Rabinovitch (BSc ’67) and his wife Rhoda Rabinovitch (BA ’69), all contributions made to the football program during the one-day giving campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $140,000.
McGill24 is a yearly event that brings together alumni, students, faculty, and supporters to raise funds for various programs, including athletics, academics, and student initiatives. Donations help fund scholarships, training, team travel, sports science, strength and conditioning, mental performance, and nutrition, among other key areas.
Double the Impact on March 12
The Rabinovitch Challenge ensures that every football donation made on March 12 will have twice the impact. Beyond football, McGill Crowdfunding donations made during McGill24—between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. EDT—are also eligible for matching, with a 1:1 ratio for the first $1,000 per donor. If total donations exceed available matching funds, the ratio will be adjusted accordingly.
These matching opportunities are made possible by generous donors, including the Board of Governors, Friends of McGill alumni support groups, and the McGill Alumni Association.
With the added incentives, McGill Athletics and Recreation is set to benefit significantly, ensuring that student-athletes continue to thrive in a competitive and innovative environment.
McGill24 offers an exciting opportunity for the university community to come together, give back, and make a lasting impact on the future of McGill’s student-athletes.
