UNCG Baseball Completes Series Sweep with 7-0 Shutout Against N.C. A&T

The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team capped off a dominant series with a 7-0 shutout victory over North Carolina A&T on Monday night at UNCG Baseball Stadium. The win secured a three-game sweep for the Spartans, marking their third shutout of the season.

After a scoreless first inning, UNCG took the lead in the second when Jacob Budzik doubled down the right-field line and later scored on Case Kermode’s single to left. The Spartans built on their lead by adding two runs in each of the next three innings, putting the game out of reach.

In the third inning, Budzik delivered again, this time with a single up the middle that brought home Parker Wight and Luke Holland, extending the lead to 3-0. The fourth inning saw UNCG capitalize on defensive errors by the Aggies. Trey Truitt crossed home plate after an errant fielder’s choice throw, and Jacob Dilley later scored on a wild pitch, pushing the score to 5-0.

The Spartans sealed the win in the fifth. A throwing error by North Carolina A&T’s third baseman allowed Trey Truitt to score, and Brantley Truitt later drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 7-0.

UNCG’s pitching staff controlled the game from start to finish. Starter Grant Aycock earned the win after five strong innings, allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out seven. Relievers Mayson Dear and Jake Colucci each tossed two scoreless innings to complete the shutout.

The Spartans outhit the Aggies 7-4 and played error-free defense, while North Carolina A&T struggled with three defensive miscues. UNCG also held the edge in stolen bases (2-1) and extra-base hits (2-0).
