The Fordham University men’s tennis team began its Spring Break schedule with a tough 4-0 loss against Florida Southern College on Tuesday at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
Florida Southern started strong by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. The Mocs then clinched the victory by winning the first three completed singles matches.
Despite the loss, Fordham showed resilience. Filip Horak was leading Florida Southern’s Chris Fok Kow at No. 2 singles when the match was stopped, having won the first set 6-2 and leading 5-2 in the second.
Ruben Russwurm and Andro Barrientos also had promising starts. Russwurm won the first set 6-2 at No. 5 singles before dropping the second 6-1. Barrientos secured a 6-4 first-set win at No. 6 but was trailing 3-1 in the second when play was halted.
