A violent altercation broke out at a Somali military training facility in southwestern Turkey, leaving 24 Somali soldiers injured, including two in critical condition.
The fight erupted on Monday evening at a training barracks in Isparta province. Turkish troops who attempted to intervene also sustained injuries, according to Isparta Governor Abdullah Erin.
Erin visited the wounded soldiers at a local hospital and confirmed the severity of the situation, particularly for the two critically injured Somali soldiers.
Turkey, a NATO member, maintains a strong partnership with Somalia, particularly in military cooperation, construction, education, and healthcare. The country hosts Turkey’s largest overseas military base, where more than 5,000 Somali security personnel have been trained.
Somali troops regularly undergo training in Turkey as part of ongoing defense collaboration between the two nations.
