Lamar’s Offense Overwhelms Tulane

The Cardinals took control early, scoring three runs in the first inning off an RBI single from Zane Spinn and a two-run hit by Bryce Grizzaffi. Tulane responded with a run on an Andrew McKenna RBI single, but Lamar continued its offensive push.

Two more runs in the second extended Lamar’s lead, though Tulane fought back with a pair of runs in the bottom half on a Brennan Bryant double and a Connor Rasmussen RBI single.

The Cardinals then erupted for four runs in the third, highlighted by a three-run inside-the-park home run from Damian Ruiz. They added two more in the fourth on a Spinn homer and an RBI single from Matt Ryan.

Lamar sealed the victory with three more runs in the eighth, capped by a two-run single from Logan Hamm and a sacrifice fly from Tab Tracy.

Tulane Looks to Bounce Back

The Green Wave struggled offensively, managing just seven hits compared to Lamar’s 13 while striking out 14 times. Rasmussen led the team with two hits and an RBI, while McKenna, Michael Lombardi, and James Agabedis III each contributed a hit.

Tulane now shifts focus to conference play as they host Wichita State (7-13) for a three-game series starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
