The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its tennis Players of the Week for the 10th week of the 2025 spring season. Wayne State senior Cedric Drenth and Davenport freshman Sienna Opray received the honors for their outstanding performances.
Men’s Player of the Week: Cedric Drenth, Wayne State
Cedric Drenth, a senior from Sulzbach, Germany, played a key role in Wayne State’s road wins over Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech. Competing at the No. 1 singles position, Drenth battled through two strong matches. He defeated his opponent from Lake Superior State 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, and followed that with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 win against Michigan Tech.
Drenth also found success in doubles. Teaming up with George Day of Southampton, U.K., the duo posted a 6-3 win against Lake Superior State and a 6-4 win against Michigan Tech at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Women’s Player of the Week: Sienna Opray, Davenport
Freshman Sienna Opray earned her second GLIAC Player of the Week award this spring after leading Davenport to a tight 4-3 victory over Saginaw Valley State. Opray partnered with Skye Vandeleur in doubles, picking up a 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot.
She then continued her strong form in singles, winning 6-2, 7-5, also at the No. 1 position. Opray has now won 14 of her last 15 singles matches, establishing herself as one of the top young players in the conference.
