Senior Olivia Soffer of the 14th-ranked Babson College women’s tennis team has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Singles Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Soffer delivered two commanding wins at the No. 1 singles position, helping Babson to consecutive 7-0 team victories. On Friday, she blanked Emerson’s Abigail Miner 6-0, 6-0. She followed up on Saturday with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 win over Jade Finestone of 29th-ranked Colby.
A three-time All-American, Soffer leads the team with an 18-4 singles record this season. Her career mark now stands at 90-14, making her the all-time leader in singles wins in Babson program history.
The Beavers (7-2 overall, 2-1 NEWMAC) will face a major test this weekend in Atlanta. They are set to play third-ranked Emory on Friday and 18th-ranked Case Western Reserve on Saturday in back-to-back matchups against nationally ranked opponents.
