Top seeds Joel Angus and Tahlia Richardson lived up to expectations at Doubles Mania 2025, each capturing singles titles during a weekend filled with elite-level badminton competition.
Angus claimed the Open Men’s Singles crown with a straight-sets win over second-seeded Craig Allison, taking the final 21-18, 21-15. Richardson faced a tougher road in the Open Women’s Singles final but ultimately prevailed in a thrilling three-set battle over Bermary Polanco Munoz, 21-13, 15-21, 22-20.
Doubles Dominance
Angus went on to double his championship tally, partnering with Kenneth Anglin to win the Open Men’s Doubles title. The pair defeated Allison and Mickhail Williams, 21-15, 21-17, in the final.
In the Open Women’s Doubles, the duo of Rihanna Rust and Katherine Wynter got the better of Richardson and Breanna Bisnott, winning 21-14, 21-17.
Rust and Anglin added another title in the Open Mixed Doubles, overcoming Matthew Yee-Grant and Richardson in comeback fashion, 13-21, 21-13, 21-10.
B and C Division Highlights
In the B Men’s Doubles, top seeds Daryl Branford and Chelule Miller battled past Jhevado Ross and Matheus Smith, 21-10, 22-24, 21-13. Ross and Smith rebounded in the C Men’s Doubles, defeating Romaine Bent and Marvin Lee 21-16, 21-11 to claim the title.
The B Mixed Doubles final saw Chavaughn Schleifer and Brianna Burke upset top-seeded Branford and Mikaelah Mustafaa in straight sets, 21-13, 22-20.
In the C Women’s Doubles, Sammy Rhose Etulle and Shelby Stephenson recovered from a set down to beat Abbi-Gayle Harvey and Ruthann Wagdle 17-21, 21-8, 21-10.
The tournament closed with a dramatic C Mixed Doubles final, where top seeds Andrew Heath and Michelle Champagnie edged Ross and Burke in a three-set thriller, 21-15, 19-21, 21-18.
