How Can You Enhance Your Volleyball Skills Without a Ball?

Do this in sets of 15 – 20 reps.​

For digging, simulate the movement of dropping to your knees or diving to save a hard – hit ball. Practice extending your arms in the direction of an imaginary ball and using your forearms to deflect it upwards. Visualize different scenarios where you need to dig, such as a powerful spike from an opponent.​

Refining Blocking Movements​

When it comes to blocking, practice the jumping and arm – raising motion. Stand near a wall or in an open space. Jump up as if you’re blocking a ball, extending your arms upwards and outwards. Focus on timing your jump correctly, as if you’re reacting to an opponent’s attack. Do multiple jumps, trying to increase your vertical height and the speed of your jump.​

Tactical & Mental Preparation​

Studying Court Positions​

Study and understand the different court positions in volleyball. Familiarize yourself with the responsibilities of each position, whether it’s the front – row players’ role in blocking and attacking or the back – row players’ focus on passing and digging. Visualize yourself in each position, understanding how you would move around the court, communicate with teammates, and react to different plays.

Mental Visualization​
