The Manitoba Bisons have made a significant addition to their roster with the signing of 6’3″ guard Dante Dyck from Winkler. Dyck, a standout player, is known for his scoring ability and leadership on the court.
In his senior year at Garden Valley in 2024, Dyck averaged an impressive 30.1 points per game and was named the AAA Male Player of the Year. This announcement comes just one day after his teammate, Ethan Wiebe, also committed to the Bisons, after being named the 2025 AAA Male Player of the Year.
In addition to his scoring, Dyck contributed 8.4 rebounds, six assists, and 2.8 steals per game during his senior season. He also set a school record with 56 points in a game in February 2024 during the Sturgeon Heights HIT Tournament. The year before, he led Garden Valley to a AAA championship title.
Dyck has also gained professional experience overseas, playing for Olimpia Kings in Paraguay’s National Basketball League. During his time with the team, he regularly scored in double digits, including a standout performance with 19 points against San Jose in November 2024. He also represented Paraguay’s U20 team.
Bisons head coach Kirby Schepp expressed excitement about Dyck’s addition: “Dante brings a year of professional experience that will help him transition smoothly to the U SPORTS level. He can score at all three levels, and we look forward to seeing him make an impact with our team.”
Dyck, thrilled to join the Bisons, said, “I’m excited to represent my home province with an incredible coaching staff and teammates.” He also thanked key people who have supported him along the way, including coaches Walter Giesbrecht, Danny Friesen, Marlin Kraus, Jon Giesbrecht, and Javier Martinez, as well as his father, Werner Dyck.
