Shaw University claimed its 14th CIAA Women’s Tennis Championship with a 4-0 victory over Johnson C. Smith University in the finals. This marks the sixth time the two teams have met in the title match and the seventh straight championship for Shaw.
The Bears quickly took control in doubles play. Their second doubles team won 6-1, and they secured the doubles point when Johnson C. Smith was unable to field a third doubles team.
In singles, Shaw continued their strong performance. They clinched victories at the third and fifth singles spots to seal the 4-0 win and bring home another CIAA title.
Shaw’s Selena Teluwo, who delivered outstanding performances throughout the tournament, was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player.
