The New Zealand Boys 14U tennis team, made up of Neve Upston, Jacques Rupe, Jake Karatha, and Captain Seb Lavie, finished 10th at the World Junior Tennis Qualifying event in Kuching, Malaysia.
New Zealand faced a tough draw in the round-robin stage. They lost matches against the fourth-seeded Thailand team and the fifth-seeded Chinese Taipei team. However, they scored a solid win over Singapore to finish third in their pool.
In the 9th–16th place playoffs, New Zealand showed strong form. They beat Pakistan 3-0 and followed that up with a 2-1 victory over Iran.
In the final playoff for 9th and 10th place, New Zealand faced Indonesia. Despite a strong effort, they lost 2-1, finishing 10th overall in the tournament.
The top four teams — Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea Republic, and Hong Kong China — earned spots in the World Finals.
