The Galatasaray Fuzul Wheelchair Basketball Team concluded the 2024-2025 season on a high note, capturing the EuroCup 1 championship with a 64-57 victory over Les Aigles du Velay in Sassari, Italy.
The final match of the IWBF EuroCup 1 was held at Pala Serradimigni, where Galatasaray’s starting lineup included Lee Manning, Ferit Gumus, Mahdi Abbasi, Burak Aygan, and Enes Bulut.
Galatasaray started strong, leading 20-14 after the first quarter, and maintained their momentum to finish the first half ahead 35-31. Heading into the final quarter, they were up 49-41, and they held on to secure the 64-57 win, clinching the coveted EuroCup 1 title.
Mucahit Gunaydin was the standout performer for Galatasaray, finishing as the team’s top scorer with 17 points. Lee Manning contributed 14 points, Enes Bulut added 13, Mahdi Abbasi scored 12, and Ferit Gumus rounded out the scoring with 8 points.
With this win, Galatasaray Fuzul Wheelchair Basketball Team capped off a stellar season, having also secured the domestic league championship.
President Erdogan Congratulates Galatasaray
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan extended his congratulations to the Galatasaray Fuzul Wheelchair Basketball Team for their remarkable achievement.
In a message shared on social media, Erdogan wrote, “I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the Galatasaray Fuzul Wheelchair Basketball Team, along with the players, coaching staff, supporters, and the entire Galatasaray Sports Club community, for their outstanding achievement in winning the IWBF EuroCup 1.”
Minister of Youth and Sports Also Congratulates Champions
Turkey’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Askin Bak, joined in celebrating Galatasaray’s success.
In a social media post, Minister Bak expressed his congratulations, stating, “I congratulate Galatasaray Fuzul for becoming champions of the IWBF EuroCup 1 in Italy, defeating Les Aigles Du Velay in the final.”
