West Texas A&M Baseball has officially earned its place in the 2025 Lone Star Conference (LSC) Championships, claiming the fifth seed and set to face rival Lubbock Christian in the opening round. The two teams will battle it out in a best-of-three series beginning May 2 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the two-week championship event.
Championship Format
The LSC Championship features an exciting, two-week format. The first week includes three best-of-three series, taking place from May 2-4 (Friday-Sunday), hosted by the No. 2, 3, and 4 seeds (UT Tyler, St. Edward’s, and Lubbock Christian). Each series’ winner will move on to the double-elimination format during the second week, scheduled for May 8-10 (Thursday-Saturday). The double-elimination round will be hosted by regular season champions, Angelo State, at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium in San Angelo, Texas.
Angelo State Looks to Defend Their Title
Angelo State, with a stellar 41-7 overall record, enters the championship as the top seed. The Rams, who won the LSC title for the eighth time in program history, are ranked No. 1 in national polls and are currently riding an 11-game winning streak. They lead the league in batting (.378) and fielding percentage (.977) and are the reigning national champions, having won the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.

- No. 2 Seed UT Tyler (41-9, 40-8) will host No. 7 Seed Texas A&M-Kingsville (27-23, 26-22 LSC) at Irwin Field in Tyler, Texas. UT Tyler, which is ranked in the top 6 nationally, boasts the best pitching staff in the LSC (3.81 ERA) and is on a 14-game winning streak. The series will begin Friday at 7 p.m. CT, followed by Saturday at 7 p.m. CT, and Sunday at 1 p.m. CT (if necessary).
- No. 3 Seed St. Edward’s (32-18, 31-17 LSC) will host No. 6 Seed St. Mary’s (28-22, 26-22 LSC) at Lucian-Hamilton Field in Austin, Texas. The Hilltoppers are receiving votes in national polls. The series schedule includes Friday at 2 p.m. CT, Saturday at 1 p.m. CT, and Sunday at 1 p.m. CT (if necessary).
- No. 4 Seed Lubbock Christian (31-19, 30-18 LSC), the defending LSC tournament champions, will host No. 5 Seed West Texas A&M (31-20, 29-19 LSC) at Hays Field in Lubbock, Texas. LCU has led the league in home runs with 81, while WT has won the LSC tournament in 2016 and 2017. Their series will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. CT, Saturday at 3 p.m. CT, and Sunday at 1 p.m. CT (if necessary).
