“We are so grateful for everything Coach Benson has poured into our program and our student-athletes,” said Presbyterian College Director of Athletics Dee Nichols. “His impact will be felt long after he moves on. Coach Benson will always have a special place in our Blue Hose family, and we wish him well on the next chapter of his career.”

Benson led the Blue Hose for two seasons from 2023 to 2024. During his time, he guided the volleyball program through two record-breaking campaigns.

In 2023, Benson coached Presbyterian to a fourth-place finish in the Big South Conference—the team’s best regular-season result since 2019. In 2024, he helped the Blue Hose qualify for the Big South Tournament for the second straight year, a feat the program had not achieved since 2014. Presbyterian also earned a win over third-seeded USC Upstate to advance to the tournament semifinals.
