Tulane baseball improved to 27-18 (10-8 AAC) on the season with a 9-4 home win over Nicholls (15-27) on Tuesday night at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
The Green Wave took control early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second. Matthias Haas, Tanner Chun, and James Agabedis III each delivered RBI hits to give Tulane an early cushion. Agabedis later added a double in the fifth to bring in another run, while an RBI groundout from Logan Lombardi made it 7-0.
Tulane’s pitching staff featured a six-man rotation that combined to hold Nicholls to four runs. Blaise Wilcenski (4-3) got the win after pitching three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out four. Will Clements followed with two shutout innings and three strikeouts. Gavin Smith recorded the final out in the ninth to seal the win.
Nicholls starter Dalton Hill (2-5) took the loss, giving up five runs on three hits over three innings.
Offensively, Jason Wachs and Haas each had two hits and scored twice. Agabedis drove in two runs on two hits, while Chun, Gavin Schulz, and Kaikea Harrison each added an RBI. Tulane tacked on insurance runs in the eighth with a base hit from Harrison and a sacrifice fly from Connor Rasmussen.
Nicholls broke through in the sixth with two runs on RBI singles by Aaron Biediger and Carter Jenkins. They added two more in the ninth on a single by Logan Mock but couldn’t close the gap.
Tulane will now turn its attention to a key conference series against Florida Atlantic (29-15, 10-8 AAC), with games scheduled for May 2–4 at Greer Field. Game times are 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
