The 3A tournament will take place at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, with finals and playback finals also starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Several returning champions will compete this year. In 5A, Valor Christian junior Caroline Daugherty returns to defend her No. 1 singles title after becoming the first player from her school to win an individual state championship last year. In 4A, Kent Denver’s Lila Moldenhauer is back for another run after winning back-to-back individual titles as a junior.

However, in 3A, reigning champion Nicole Celechovsky of D’Evelyn will not return. Celechovsky, who won as a freshman last season, chose not to compete in high school tennis this year.

Once the individual state championships conclude, six teams will face off in the CHSAA Dual Team State Championships next Tuesday at Denver Tennis Park. Team champions will be crowned in 3A, 4A, and 5A divisions.
