Panathinaikos is back on top of Greek men’s volleyball after sweeping archrival Olympiakos in the final series of the 2025 Volley League.
Despite losing both the Greek Cup and Super Cup to Olympiakos earlier in the season, Panathinaikos turned their focus to the league and captured their 22nd national championship, ending a three-year title drought.
Led by coach Dimitris Andreopoulos, Panathinaikos finished first in the regular season and defeated PAOK 3-1 in the semifinals. Olympiakos reached the finals after a five-game battle against Milon.
With home-court advantage, the Greens won Game 1 at the Mets Indoor Hall with a 3-1 scoreline. In Game 2, held in Rentis, they came back from two sets down to win 3-2, stunning the home crowd.
The decisive Game 3, played on Wednesday in front of 2,000 fans at Mets, was a thrilling contest. Panathinaikos took the first set, lost the next two, but rallied to win 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 25-27, 25-21, 17-15), completing a clean 3-0 series sweep and lifting the league trophy once again.
This marks Panathinaikos’ 22nd Greek championship in men’s volleyball, solidifying their legacy as one of the country’s most successful clubs.
