The FIBA Regional Office for the Americas has confirmed that the 2025 FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup will be held in Irapuato, Mexico, from June 16 to 22. All tournament games will take place at Inforum Irapuato, a venue that previously hosted the Group Stage of the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup.
A total of eight countries will compete in the tournament. The participants include the United States and Canada from North America, Mexico, Panama, and Puerto Rico, who all reached the podium at the 2024 Centrobasket U15 Women’s Championship, as well as Venezuela, Colombia, and Argentina, the top three teams from the 2024 South American U15 Women’s Championship.
The top four teams in the competition will secure a spot in the 2026 FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup.
The United States is the defending champion, having won four consecutive titles and seven of the last eight editions of the tournament. Canada, in 2015, is the only other nation to have claimed the title.
