Sevilla FC’s first-team players and staff were forced to remain at their training facility on Saturday night after violent attacks by supporters following the team’s 3-2 loss to Celta Vigo.
The club issued a statement strongly condemning the “organized vandalism” at the Jose Ramon Cisneros Palacios training complex. The incident occurred after Sevilla’s defeat to 10-man Celta Vigo.
Social media footage showed a large group of supporters outside the training ground, chanting and using pyrotechnics. Another video captured fans tearing down the facility’s gate.
Due to the attacks, Sevilla’s players and staff were unable to leave the building upon returning from Vigo. The club vowed to take action against those responsible, stating they would seek to identify individuals who shared private information about employees on social media, calling these acts criminal offenses.
The loss in Vigo left Sevilla in 16th place in La Liga, just six points above the relegation zone, with three matches remaining. Despite their struggles, having won the Europa League in 2020 and 2023, the club promised to report the vandalism and support the pursuit of those behind the crimes.
Sevilla also stated they would help identify the attackers and take strict action if they are found to be club fans. While the club acknowledged the poor season, they made it clear that protests would not be tolerated if they involved aggression, threats, or vandalism.
Sevilla, winless in their last eight matches, will face relegation rivals Las Palmas on Tuesday in a crucial match, before hosting Real Madrid and finishing the season with a trip to Villarreal.
