TNT Sports will continue as the official broadcast partner of Premiership Rugby through the 2030/31 season, following a major extension of its current deal. The announcement comes after record-breaking audience numbers over the past year.
The renewed agreement ensures that every Gallagher Premiership Rugby match – including the Play-Offs and Final – will be shown live on TNT Sports’ linear TV channels and streaming service, discovery+. Select matches from the Premiership Rugby Cup will also be included in the coverage.
As part of the deal, TNT Sports will broadcast at least one match from every round of the Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) season, including the Semi-Finals and Final, through the end of the 2028/29 season.
“TNT Sports is proud to cement its position as the home of men’s and women’s domestic rugby,” said Andrew Georgiou, President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe. “We’re providing fans with certainty on where they can watch every moment of Premiership Rugby and extensive coverage of Premiership Women’s Rugby.”
The decision follows a strong year for rugby viewership. TNT Sports recorded two of its five highest-ever audiences on linear TV during the current season. After 13 rounds of the 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership Rugby season, average viewership is up 11% compared to 2023/24, and up 24% compared to 2022/23.
The network’s programming strategy has also played a role. When Premiership Rugby matches are scheduled immediately after Premier League football games, Saturday afternoon viewership has increased by 39% compared to weekends without a football lead-in.
Premiership Women’s Rugby has seen even more dramatic growth. Viewership jumped 156% following the Autumn Nations Series in November. The 2025 Grand Final, where Gloucester-Hartpury beat Saracens 34-19, drew a 36% higher average audience than the 2024 final, helping push TNT Sports’ season-long average up by 86% year-on-year.
TNT Sports has been the lead broadcaster for Premiership Rugby since 2013. Formerly known as BT Sport, the channel was rebranded after a joint venture between Warner Bros. Discovery and BT in September 2022.
