The IUP women’s tennis team continued its strong season by defeating No. 7 Bloomsburg in the first round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional on Monday morning.
With the win, IUP improved to 17-6 overall and extended its impressive winning streak to 12 straight matches.
IUP started the day strong by claiming the doubles point. The No. 1 and No. 3 doubles teams each won by a 6-2 score, while the No. 2 doubles team swept their match 6-0, giving IUP an early advantage.
In singles play, IUP secured victories at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 positions to clinch the overall match.
- Lieselotte Hartlohner dominated at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
- Ming Deewajee followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles.
- Asel Calbay sealed the team win at No. 5 singles, earning a 6-2, 6-4 triumph.

No. 2 seed IUP will face No. 3 seed Slippery Rock in the next round of the Atlantic Regional. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, at 1:00 p.m. at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
