The UC Davis men’s basketball program has signed Brayden Fagbemi, a 6-foot guard from Central Arkansas, with previous experience at Johns Hopkins University. Head coach Jim Les announced the move on Monday.
“Brayden brings a strong impact to our team, both on and off the floor. He is a skilled and intelligent guard,” Les said. “As a pre-med major, he fits well into our team culture. He excels at creating opportunities for both himself and others, and he will bring that Chicago toughness that we value.”
Fagbemi, originally from Naperville, Illinois, and a graduate of Benet Academy, had an impressive sophomore season at Central Arkansas in 2024-25. He averaged 11.4 points, 4.7 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. The point guard started 27 of 31 games and led the Bears with 46 steals. He also had a solid assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.9-to-1 (146 assists to 77 turnovers). One of his best performances included a 25-point, 8-assist game against North Alabama, where he shot 7-for-9 from three-point range. He also recorded a career-high 10 assists in a game against Austin Peay.
Before transferring to Central Arkansas, Fagbemi played at Johns Hopkins in the 2023-24 season, where he earned D3hoops.com Region V Rookie of the Year and Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year honors. As a freshman, he averaged 13.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. He set a program record with 8 assists in his debut against Marymount, where he also scored 19 points, and later posted a career-high 30 points against Ursinus.
In high school, Fagbemi led Benet Academy to the Illinois state finals and earned all-state honors. He also played six years with the Illinois Attack AAU program.
Fagbemi will join the UC Davis Aggies as a junior for the 2025-26 season.
