The University of San Diego women’s basketball team has announced the signing of transfer guard Kylie Ray for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Head coach Blanche Alverson expressed her enthusiasm about the new addition, highlighting Ray’s impact on the game.
“Kylie Ray is the kind of player who makes everyone around her better – not just with her presence, but with her ability to change a game,” Alverson said. “She’s a true offensive threat, capable of scoring in multiple ways and leading an offense with creativity and confidence. She plays with passion, competes with purpose, and embodies the spirit of our Torero family. Her return to California marks a fresh start, and we’re excited she chose USD to continue her journey.”
Ray joins USD after one season at Utah, where she appeared in 16 games as a reserve. During her NCAA debut, she scored six points, including two three-pointers, in a win over Southern Utah. Her best performance came in a home victory against McNeese, where she played 16 minutes, grabbed a career-high five rebounds, and recorded an assist.
A native of Southern California, Ray had an impressive high school career at Crescenta Valley High School. She was a three-time Pacific League MVP and led her team to three league championships. In her senior season, she averaged 20 points per game and earned All-CIF honors for her outstanding performance.
Ray is the second transfer added to the Toreros’ roster this offseason, joining Helen Holley. She will be part of a strong incoming class that includes five freshmen: Jessica Ajayi, Ryanne Bahansen-Price, Olivia Owens, Isabella Von Seipler, and Ayla Williams.
