Abilene Christian Baseball put together a solid offensive showing with 12 hits, but it wasn’t enough to hold back a red-hot Texas Tech team. The Wildcats fell 16-4 in eight innings on Tuesday afternoon at Rip Griffin Park.
Diego Cardenas continued his standout season at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the fifth inning—his 12th of the year—and an RBI single in the seventh.
ACU struck first in the second inning. Maddox Miesse opened the frame with a single, and Grant Watkins followed with a powerful two-run homer to right field, his 13th of the season. The Wildcats added another run in the fifth on Cardenas’ long ball and scored again in the seventh when Benjamin Greer doubled and came home on Cardenas’ single.
Sophomore Ranse Radtke also had a strong day, finishing 2-for-4 with a double. Reese Borho, Brady Gray, and Holden Rook each added a hit, contributing to a balanced offensive effort.
On the pitching side, freshman Brady Coe provided a highlight with a scoreless second inning in relief. OJ Gonzalez also pitched a clean sixth inning, needing just 12 pitches to get through it. ACU used nine pitchers in total, managing arms carefully ahead of a crucial conference series this weekend.
Looking ahead, the Wildcats remain on the road for their final conference series of the season. They will face California Baptist in a three-game set starting Thursday at 8:00 p.m. CT. ACU still has an opportunity to climb the standings with a strong finish.
