The iconic Centre Court at Queen’s Club will soon carry a new name — the Andy Murray Arena. The former World No. 1 will attend the official unveiling ceremony.
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) confirmed on Tuesday that Murray will be present at Queen’s Club on June 9. This date marks the opening day of the venue’s new WTA 500 tournament. The court will be officially inaugurated in his honor.
Murray has a long and successful history at Queen’s Club. He won the HSBC Championships singles title five times, with his latest victory in 2016. In 2019, he also lifted the doubles trophy, partnering with Feliciano Lopez.
His journey at Queen’s began in 2005, when he entered the main draw as an 18-year-old. Last year, Murray played the tournament for the final time before retiring from professional tennis after the Paris Olympics.
