The UC Davis men’s basketball program has added a major talent to its roster. Head coach Jim Les announced Wednesday the signing of Marcus Wilson, a 6-foot-3 guard transferring from Washington State.
Wilson is known for his athleticism and versatility. He can play both guard positions and impact the game on offense and defense.
“Marcus is an athletic and explosive guard who can impact the game on both ends of the floor,” Les said. “His defensive pressure creates turnovers and disrupts offenses. He has unlimited range on his shot and the ability to attack the basket and finish in a variety of ways. Marcus’ work ethic and competitive spirit will be a fan favorite at the UCU.”
Wilson played four games for the Cougars during the 2024-25 season before a season-ending injury. His best performance came against Idaho, where he hit both of his three-point attempts, finishing with six points and two assists in just 15 minutes.
Before joining Washington State, Wilson showcased his skills at Bella Vista Prep in Arizona. There, he led his team in assists and guided the Bears to the Boys Division 3 Arizona State quarterfinals.
Rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports, Wilson was ranked the No. 37 combo guard in the nation and a top-275 overall player. His standout senior season earned him a McDonald’s All-America nomination.
Wilson’s roots trace back to New Mexico. He starred for the Albuquerque Basketball Club, leading them to the Grind Session World Championships. PrepHoops.com named him New Mexico’s No. 1 recruit in the 2024 class.
In addition to basketball, Wilson also played football at Cibola High School in Albuquerque. He contributed to the Cougars’ first-round victory in the 6A State Championship as a sophomore in 2021.
Wilson will join UC Davis for the 2025-26 season with four years of eligibility remaining. His scoring ability, defensive intensity, and competitive edge are expected to make an immediate impact for the Aggies.
