John Calipari has secured his first commitment for Arkansas basketball’s 2026 class—and he’s keeping one of the state’s brightest stars at home.
Little Rock Christian Academy standout JJ Andrews announced his pledge to the Razorbacks on Thursday during a ceremony at his high school. The 6-foot-6 wing chose Arkansas over SEC rivals Missouri and LSU. Andrews is Arkansas’ top-ranked recruit in the 2026 class and the No. 37 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Andrews also carries a strong Razorback legacy. His father, Shawn Andrews, was an All-American offensive lineman at Arkansas (2001-03) before a seven-year NFL career, which included two Pro Bowl selections with the Philadelphia Eagles.
JJ, the 2024-25 Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year, dominated his junior season with averages of 28.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2 blocks per game. He led Little Rock Christian to the second round of the AHSAA 5A Playoffs, where they fell to eventual state champion Benton.
Scouts praise Andrews’ 7-foot wingspan, explosive athleticism, and ability to attack the rim through contact. While he continues refining his jump shot, his defensive potential and physical tools project him as a high-major impact player.
He’s the second in-state prospect to join Calipari’s Arkansas rebuild, following 2025 signee Isaiah Sealy (No. 74 nationally) from Springdale High.
