Holy Cross Wins Patriot League Baseball Title with Walk-Off in 10th

Top-seeded Holy Cross captured its second Patriot League baseball championship in dramatic fashion, defeating No. 3 seed Army West Point 8–7 in 10 innings at Fitton Field to sweep the best-of-three 2025 Patriot League Championship Series.

Sophomore center fielder Gianni Royer delivered the game-winning hit, a double down the left-field line that scored sophomore left fielder John LaFleur in the bottom of the 10th inning. Royer’s performance earned him a spot on the Patriot League Baseball All-Tournament Team.

Senior shortstop Jimmy King went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, while senior first baseman Chris Baillargeon added a 1-for-3 performance with an RBI. Baillargeon, who tied for the tournament lead with seven RBIs, also earned All-Tournament honors.

Junior right-handed pitcher Danny Macchiarola was named Tournament MVP. He was dominant on the mound, going 2–0 with a 0.53 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 17 innings across two starts during the championship.

Despite the loss, Army West Point had several standout performers. Senior first baseman and pitcher Justin Lehman had a strong showing, batting .524 for the tournament and earning a win with a 1.32 ERA in two starts. He was named to the All-Tournament Team along with teammates Coleson Titus and Thomas Schreck. Titus, a senior third baseman, batted .368 and drove in seven runs, while Schreck contributed solid defense at shortstop.

Navy was represented on the All-Tournament Team by senior second baseman Brock Murtha and freshman left fielder Mason Ceccarelli. Murtha hit .533 with five RBIs and two doubles in the semifinals. Ceccarelli batted .462, scored five runs, and added two RBIs.

Lehigh also placed two players on the All-Tournament Team. Junior first baseman Aidan Quinn led all hitters with a .615 batting average in the postseason. Sophomore right-hander Liam O’Hearen threw 5.2 scoreless innings in the semifinals to pick up a win and earn All-Tournament recognition.

The victory marks Holy Cross’s second Patriot League baseball title in school history and ends Army’s run of six consecutive championships.
