Young Stars Set to Compete for Spot on USA U19 Men’s Basketball Team

USA Basketball has announced the 33 athletes invited to the 2025 USA Men’s U19 National Team training camp. The camp will take place at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, starting June 14.

A final 12-player roster will be selected before the team travels to Switzerland for the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup.

The athletes attending the camp include players who have just finished their freshman year of college or are part of the high school graduating classes of 2025 and 2026. The USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee will choose the final team.

“We’re excited about the talent coming to Colorado Springs,” said Sean Ford, director of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team. “We believe this group of experienced players and newcomers gives us a strong chance to build a winning team for the World Cup.”

Seven college players will attend the camp: LJ Cason, Tony Duckett, Daniel Jacobsen, Morez Johnson Jr., Royce Parham, Tyrone Riley IV, and Tyler Tanner.

From the high school class of 2025, the camp will feature Matt Able, Mikel Brown Jr., Chris Cenac Jr., AJ Dybantsa, Hudson Greer, Isiah Harwell, Jasper Johnson, Nik Khamenia, Nykolas Lewis, JJ Mandaquit, Malachi Moreno, Koa Peat, and Sadiq White.

The class of 2026 includes Tajh Ariza, Christian Collins, Jason Crowe Jr., Caleb Gaskins, Cameron Holmes, Caleb Holt, Taylen Kinney, Brandon McCoy Jr., Jaxon Richardson, Deron Rippey Jr., Jordan Smith Jr., Tyran Stokes, and Elijah Williams.

Fourteen of the invited athletes have previously played on a USA Basketball junior national team, and together, they hold 21 gold medals. Twenty-six of the players have also participated in a junior national team minicamp.

The 2025 USA U19 team will be coached by Tommy Lloyd from the University of Arizona. He will be assisted by Grant McCasland of Texas Tech and Micah Shrewsberry of Notre Dame. Court coaches for the camp will include Hubert Davis (North Carolina), Nate Oats (Alabama), and Mark Pope (Kentucky).

Team USA is in Group D for the World Cup, where they will compete against Australia, France, and Cameroon. The U.S. has a 4-2 record against Australia in U19 competition and has won six straight games against France, leading the series 6-1. This will be the first time the U.S. faces Cameroon in the tournament.

The FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup began in 1979 and was held every four years until 2007. It is now held every two years. The United States has won eight gold medals in the event’s history, with the most recent coming in 2021.
