Frans Krätzig, Bayern Munich’s 22-year-old left-back, is set to join RB Salzburg on a permanent transfer following an impressive loan spell at FC Heidenheim. The deal is valued at €3.5 million, and Krätzig is expected to complete his medical next week in Austria.
Despite the permanent nature of the transfer, Bayern Munich has included a buy-back clause, a condition insisted upon by the club’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, according to [@Plettigoal].
From Limited Minutes to Regular Starter
Krätzig’s journey this season began with a loan to VfB Stuttgart, where he struggled to get playing time. He made just one first-team appearance and two for VfB Stuttgart II in Germany’s third division during the Hinrunde (first half of the season).
However, things changed when he joined Heidenheim during the winter transfer window. There, Krätzig quickly became a key player, starting 15 matches and helping the club fight to avoid relegation. He joined fellow Bayern loanee Paul Wanner, who also spent the season with Heidenheim.
Relegation Battle Ahead
Krätzig’s time at Heidenheim may not be quite over. The club faces a crucial relegation playoff against SV Elversberg, who finished third in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga. A win would allow Heidenheim to stay in the top flight, capping off a strong second half of the season for both the team and Krätzig personally.
