Chinese badminton players delivered a strong performance on Day 2 of the Malaysia Masters 2025, held Wednesday at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur. Athletes from China advanced in four categories, making a powerful comeback in the tournament.
In men’s singles, Li Shifeng made quick work of Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen, winning 21-9, 21-8 in just 35 minutes. Fellow Chinese player Weng Hongyang also moved forward after defeating his teammate, Lei Lanxi.
On the women’s side, Han Qianxi battled back after losing the first game to beat Malaysia’s Letshanaa Karupathevan 10-21, 21-19, 21-12. Gao Fangjie, Wang Zhiyi, and Han Yue also won their matches to advance.
In women’s doubles, Keng Shuliang and Li Huazhou outplayed Thailand’s Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn and Sukitta Suwachai in straight sets, 21-15, 21-11.
China also performed strongly in mixed doubles. The pairs Jiang Zhenbang/Wei Yaxin, Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi, and Guo Xinwa/Chen Fanghui all advanced to the next round.
The Malaysia Masters 2025 continues through May 25.
