The Australian British Chamber of Commerce has officially welcomed the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) as new members, marking the beginning of a powerful partnership centered on shared values of community, sporting excellence, and international collaboration.
The QRU, home to the Queensland Reds men’s and women’s teams, brings a strong legacy of leadership and national pride to the Chamber’s growing network. Known for nurturing talent and connecting with communities, the Reds’ presence adds a new dimension to the Chamber’s efforts to unite business and sport.
As part of the partnership, the Reds will support one of the Chamber’s major annual events — the Australian British Rugby Lunch in Brisbane. The event celebrates the deep sporting and cultural connections between Australia and the United Kingdom.
Paul Wright, Chief Commercial Officer of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the Reds warmly.
“We are delighted to welcome the Queensland Reds into our Chamber community,” Wright said. “Their involvement brings great energy and a strong Queensland presence to our network. We’re particularly excited to have them as a partner of our Rugby Lunch in Brisbane — a standout occasion in both business and sporting circles.”
QRU Chair Brett Clark AM said the partnership supports the Reds’ broader goals.
“Joining the Australian British Chamber of Commerce aligns perfectly with the Reds’ vision to engage more deeply with the business community,” Clark said. “Rugby has always acted as a bridge between cultures and communities, and this partnership will help us connect with leaders who share our passion for excellence on and off the field.”
This year’s Rugby Lunch is expected to be a standout event, featuring high-profile speakers, business networking opportunities, and a celebration of the long-standing sporting ties that unite Australia and the UK.
