Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi is expected to have Lautaro Martinez and Davide Frattesi back in his squad for the final Serie A match of the season against Como on Friday night. However, doubts remain over the availability of Benjamin Pavard and Piotr Zielinski, who both trained separately on Thursday.
The Nerazzurri will travel to face Cesc Fabregas’s Como at the Stadio Sinigaglia, with hopes of winning their second consecutive Serie A title. But Inter will need help—Napoli must drop points in their simultaneous match against Cagliari for Inter to take the crown. Napoli, coached by Antonio Conte, lead Inter by one point heading into the final matchday.
Martinez and Frattesi Return to Training
According to Sky Sport Italia, both Martinez and Frattesi trained fully with the first team on Thursday. Martinez, who has not played since Inter’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona on May 6, is expected to start on the bench. Mehdi Taremi is likely to start in his place.
Frattesi also completed full training and could feature in the squad. His return adds depth to Inter’s midfield ahead of a busy final stretch of the season.
Injury Concerns Remain
While there is good news for Inzaghi with Martinez and Frattesi returning, Benjamin Pavard and Piotr Zielinski remain doubtful. Both players trained individually on Thursday and appear unlikely to be fit for the game against Como.
Team Selection Still Unclear
With the Serie A title still up for grabs—and the Champions League final looming next week—Inzaghi faces a difficult decision about how strong a lineup to field.
Some Italian outlets predict that Inter will field their strongest available XI, including stars like Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Marcus Thuram. However, substitutions in the second half are expected to give key players rest.
Others, including Calciomercato.com and Sky Sport Italia, believe Inzaghi may opt for a more rotated team—similar to the one that beat Torino 2-0 two weeks ago. That side featured squad players such as Kristjan Asllani, Nicola Zalewski, and Joaquin Correa.
Whatever team Inzaghi chooses, all eyes will be on Como and Naples on Friday night as the Serie A title race reaches its dramatic conclusion.
